The London Mayor has given the thumbs up to the campaign of John Campion to become West Mercia’s Police and Crime Commissioner.
It follows a visit by Boris Johnson to meet fellow Conservative John to discuss his plan for creating safer streets in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin.
The MP who currently directs policing and crime policy in his London Mayor role said the West Mercia candidate “it was fantastic to visit West Mercia and having spoken to John Campion, I know he is a man with the right plan for a safer West Mercia."
John added: “I’m delighted to have Boris’ support for West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner especially as he has successfully undertaken a similar role in London for nearly eight years.
“Let’s be clear we have a great team of hardworking police officers and staff at West Mercia Police; it is just the current Commissioner team which is lacking with a catalogue of wasteful decisions.
“Both Boris and I agreed we need a fresh start at West Mercia Police and I have a plan to create a safer and secure force whilst keeping council tax low and spending wisely.”
