Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner Candidate John Campion has expressed concern over the increasing amount of time it takes for West Mercia Police to respond to an emergency. Over the last two years response times have continued to increase, currently standing at 10.7 minutes which is an increase of over a minute since March 2013 as reported to the Police and Crime Panel.
John Campion says, “When someone calls the police in a time of an emergency then seconds can matter. There has been a worryingly trend of the response times continuing to lengthen over the last two years. Any extra time can literally mean life and death in an emergency. This worrying poor performance shows the Commissioner who has supported closing police bases has lost his grip on our Police Force and letting down our local community that needs the police in times of emergency.”
